The Wilmington College Men's Basketball team took on Hood College today in part one of their two-part journey to Maryland. Participating in the Rotary of Frederick Holiday Classic at Hood College, the Fightin' Quakers came out victorious with an 89-77 win over the hosting Hood College Blazers. After a long first half, the Quakers turned on the thrusters and put up 49 points to close out the contest.

"Winning on the road, let alone beating the host team, is always a tough thing to do in any tournament. Our toughness and willingness to play the right way in the second half was definitely the difference! Now we get ready for a Top 15 team in the country tomorrow!" Coach Hunt said following the game.

The Fightin' Quakers went 51.7% from the field, with 8 shots going in from outside the arch. The team went 19-26 from behind the line and outrebounded the Blazers defensively 23-20. A progressive showing from the Quakers Men's Basketball team as 11 different players scored throughout the night.

Senior Guard, Christian Jones (Hamilton/Hamilton, OH), went 6-10 from the field while boasting 90% from the free throw line. Freshman Forward, Colin Myers (Firelands/Oberlin, OH), went 7-11 from inside the 3-point line with a team-high 3 offensive rebounds. At the same time, Senior Forward Nathan Scott (Eastern/Sardinia, OH), made a team-high four 3-pointers  to help the Quakers seal the win.

As the Quakers move forward, they take on Christopher Newport in the Championship of the Rotary of Frederick Holiday Classic tomorrow at 3 pm at Hood College. Last year Christopher Newport finished their season in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and is currently nationally ranked at #14 in the country.
