@DubC_MensHoops Preview: Heidelberg

The Wilmington College men's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak by travel to face Heidelberg 2 p.m. Saturday.

NCAA SERIES: Wilmington trails the NCAA series, 16-21, most coming while members of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Heidelberg has won the last three meetings, include both games last year.

MEET THE STUDENT PRINCES: Heidelberg welcomes the Fightin' Quakers for its first home OAC game of the season. The Student Princes blew a 14-point halftime lead in losing to Baldwin Wallace 67-64 Wednesday.

Myron Prewitt had a career-high 21 points with 11 rebounds for the first double-double of the season. Chris Moxley added 16 points and four steals. 

Junior Kiere Bennie is leading the team in scoring with 14.7 points and rebounding with 6.3 boards. Two other players – Prewitt and Moxley – are also averaging double figures with 12.3 and 12.0 points, respectively. Prewitt is also second on team with 5.3 rebounds.

Junior Mike Mason is third in rebounding (4.3 rpg) and fourth in scoring (9.7 ppg).

The three players have accounted for 45.1 percent of the team's shots and 50.8 percent of the team's scoring.

 THE LAST TIME: The Wilmington College men's basketball team was outscored by 20 points in the second half and lost to Heidelberg on January 30, 91-74, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.

Heidelberg took control of the game with a late 10-1 run to push its four-point advantage to 14 points, and eventually the lead grew to as much as 17. The second half was littered with multiple-shot possessions and fast break points.

Christian Jones finished with 14 points, a team-high tying four rebounds and a team-high tying four assists. Zach McCorkle also tallied 14 points.   Andrew Russell had 12 points and pulled down a team-high tying four rebounds.

DOUBLE FIGURES: Wilmington enters the game with three players averaging more than 10 points, led by junior guard Christian Jones' 12.7 points per game.

Sophomore Andrew Russell is second on the team with 12.3 points per game, but he hasn't reached double figures in the last two games. Wilmington is 0-2 when Russell doesn't score at least 10 points.

Freshman Noah Chatman is scoring 11.4 points and is second on the team with 4.7 rebounds.

SCHOOL RECORD: Freshman Noah Chatman connected on the Wilmington NCAA-era record 14 field goals as he scored a career-high 30 points earlier this season against Rhodes.

WE ROLL DEEP: Wilmington's rotation features 11 players that are averaging at least 9.4 minutes per game. In addition, no player is playing more than 24 minutes. In contrast, three players averaged more than 25 last season.

JUMPMAN: The two-time dunk champion Kevin Lewis is using his jumping ability to lead the team with 5.4 rebounds. He pulled down a career-high 12 boards against Berea.

BALANCE: Five different players, in the team's seven games, have led the team in scoring. Christian Jones has led the team in three different games.
