David Henry Named First Team Academic All-American

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College football senior David Henry was named a First Team Academic All-American in a release by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday.

Henry was one of 25 individuals named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-America First Team. He carries a 3.93 grade-point average and is a sport management administration major.

"David has been through a lot of adversity in his career at Wilmington and has overcome every obstacle along the way," Head Football Coach Bryan Moore said. "He has done so much for the College on the field, in the classroom and in the community. David's best days are still ahead of him and I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached him at Wilmington."

A Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in 2017, Henry finished his senior season with 53 tackles including eight for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles. The Wilmington, Ohio, native finished his career with over 200 tackles and a dozen sacks.

Henry was also named to the CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-District VII Football Team last month.

"David is a deeply caring person whose passion of continual learning is remarkable," said Alan Ledford, assistant professor and program director of sport management. "His work ethic is without question, and I couldn't be more proud him earning this honor."

Wilmington finished its 2017 season with a 2-8 record, marking the program's best season since the 2008 campaign.
