The Wilmington College football team fell to No. 2 Mount Union, 66-7, in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

"As we say before and after every game, 'The only thing significant about this game, is what we become in the process'," said Wilmington head coach Bryan Moore. "Hopefully we learned a lot from this humbling experience and we can move forward. Mount Union is capable of doing that to most teams at the DIII level. They've been going that for three decades straights. It is up to me and my staff to continue to look for ways to close the gap. Our team is not done. We took a big punch in the gut today, but I am confident these kids will get up tomorrow, stand up, dust off, and keep moving forward."

Senior Luke Creditt (Wilmington, OH/Waynesburg) connected with sophomore Ameer Jackson (Cleveland, OH/Brush) for a 32-yard catch and run for Wilmington's lone score of the game. Creditt finished the game 14-of-23 for 151 yards and the aforementioned scoring strike.

Jackson, for the third straight game, led the team in receiving – hauling in six passes for 64 yards. Freshman quarterback Kyle Barrett (Columbus, OH/Beechcroft) led the team with 15 rushing yards.

Mount Union scored on its first five drives of the game, and looked poised to score for a sixth consecutive drive – but a fumble into the end zone was recovered by senior David Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington). It was the third straight game a ball was fumbled into the end zone, but the first time Wilmington was able to pounce on the pigskin.

The Purple Raiders added three more scores before punting for the first time.

Senior C.J. Thompson (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) finished with a team-high 11 tackles and a quarterback hurry, while freshman Tre'Quez Parks (Columbus, OH/Beechcroft) added seven tackles. Henry finished with five tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Wilmington (2-5 overall, 1-5 OAC) travels to Heidelberg 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
