Henry repeats as Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar

Wilmington College defensive end David Henry racked up another academic honor to add to his growing list of achievements.

Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) was named a 2017 Football first team Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. It's the second straight year Henry has earned the honor. He is one of 30 first team selections across all divisions, and his 3.99 GPA is the second highest in football. The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars were published by Diverse Issue in Higher Education magazine.

"While I haven't had the opportunity to coach David in a regular season game, it's clear he has the work ethic that has enabled him to be successful on and off of the football field," said Wilmington head coach Bryan Moore. "David is the epitome of what kind of student-athlete we want in our program. To receive an award named for Arthur Ashe Jr. is a tremendous honor for any student-athlete."

He is the only Wilmington College student-athlete to achieve this honor.

Henry is a two-time Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), including a first team selection in 2016.
