Johnson-Sanders scores lone touchdown

ALLIANCE – The Wilmington College football team lost to top-ranked Mount Union Saturday, 71-7, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Mount Union Stadium.

Freshman Keshawn Johnson-Sanders (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) returned a fumble 29 yards for Wilmington's only score in the second quarter. It was his first career fumble recovery and touchdown.

Mount Union scored touchdowns on four of its first five possessions, and its sixth possession came to an end of Johnson-Sanders aforementioned recovery for a score.

Junior Luke Creditt (Wilmington, OH/Waynesville) threw for 83 yards on 11-of-21 passing and one interception.

Junior Eric Flynn, Jr. (Cleveland, OH/Central Catholic) finished with a team-high 14 yards on seven carries, while freshman CJ Wilkerson (Temple, GA/Temple) had a team-high 47 yards receiving. Junior PJ Meyer (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) hauled in a team-high four passes for 28 yards.

Defensively, junior C.J. Thompson (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) led the team with 10 tackles, including two for loss and a fumble recovery. Freshman Bryan Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Jackson), junior Ryan Prince (Urbana, OH/Urbana) and freshman Michael Vargo (Avon, OH/Avon) all had five tackles for the Fightin' Quakers.

Wilmington (0-7 overall, 0-6 OAC) returns home 1:30 p.m. Saturday to host Heidelberg in OAC action.
