The academic honors continue to roll in for Wilmington College defensive end David Henry as the junior was a 2016 football first team Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.

Henry was one of 30 first team selections across all divisions, and his 3.98 was the third highest grade point average amongst all the 30 first team honorees. The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars were published by Diverse Issues in Higher Education magazine.

"It is truly an honor for David to be named to the Author Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar First Team," said Wilmington College head coach Stacey Hairston. "David is a tremendous student athlete that works extremely hard on the field and even harder in the classroom. He represents Wilmington College and its football program with great character and class. David is a man of high integrity and morality. I am very proud of David and all of his accomplishments."

He is the first Wilmington College student-athlete to achieve this honor.

Henry was named a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was also named second team All-Ohio Athletic Conference for his on-field exploits. He was second in the league with seven sacks and third with 12.5 tackles for loss, while leading all OAC defensive linemen in tackling and forced fumbles. Henry ranked in the top 20 nationally in forced fumbles.
