Football falls to No. 3 Purple Raiders

The Wilmington College football team fell to No. 3 Mount Saturday, 74-7, in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Wilmington's lone score came as freshman Brandon Mitchell (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) hooked up with freshman Tyrik Burns (Newport News, VA/Denbign) from 27 yards out. The touchdown strike capped a seven-play, 75-yard drive for the Fightin' Quakers.

Mount Union scored on their first eight drives of the game, and led 65-7 at the half.

Mitchell finished the game 3-for-11 for 64 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Freshman running back Tahj Sho-Johnson (Princeton, WVa./Princeton) led the team in rushing with 40 yards on 12 carries, while leading rusher, Chase Manica (Shelbyville, KY/Shelby County), was held to 31 yards on 16 carries.

Junior Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) finished with two receptions for 40 yards.

Senior Cody Reigelsperger (Trenton, OH/Edgewood), sophomore David Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) and freshman David Branham Jr. (West Liberty, OH/West Liberty-Salem) all had five tackles to lead Wilmington.

Wilmington (0-7 overall, 0-6 OAC) hosts Heidelberg 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
