Quakers fall to 0-4

NEW CONCORD, OH - The Wilmington College football team couldn't muster any offense Saturday and fall to Muskingum in Ohio Athletic Conference action, 45-0.

The Muskies scored on four their first five possessions and added two safeties in opening up a 24-0 halftime lead. Wilmington was held to negative two yards offense at the break. The Fightin' Quakers finished the game with 74 yards on 51 plays.

Thanks in part to the lost yardage on six sacks, WC ran the ball 29 times for a total of negative 38 yards. SeniorTyrell Richardson (Columbus, OH/Centennial) had a team-high 11 carries for 11 yards.

Junior quarterback Brandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) threw for 112 yards on 10-of-21 passing and no interceptions. Arehart has taken care of the football in the last two games, not throwing any picks in his last 44 attempts. It was his inability to do was part of the the reason for his benching in game two.

Wilmington is still looking for some kind of offensive continuity as they haven't scored an offensive point in two games.

Junior Antonio Turner (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) led the team with four catches for 67 yards, while freshman Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller) added two receptions for 39 yards.

Defensively, sophomore linebacker Gunner Calhoun (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie) continues to lead the Quakers. He finished with 12 tackles and a forced fumble to bring his season total to 44 tackles.

In his return from an injury, senior cornerback LaVonte' Darby (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods) recorded seven tackles, while linebacker Jason Phillips (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) had seven tackles as well.

Wilmington (0-4 overall, 0-3 OAC) will return home to Townsend Field at Williams Stadium to host top-ranked Mount Union 2 p.m. Saturday.
