Ary leads All-OAC contingent

AUSTINTOWN, OH – Three Wilmington College football players were honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference today (November 19) when the league announced the All-OAC teams.

For the second year in a row, junior Donnie Ary(Jamestown, OH/Greeneview) earned second-team recognition. Senior kicker Max Gabbard (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) and junior defensive lineman Chris Ferguson (Springfield, OH/North) were named honorable mention.

Ary led all Wilmington defensive linemen in tackles with 54 and was second with 12 tackles for loss. His ability to absorb and defeat constant double-teams helped free up linebackers Gunner Calhoun, Jason Phillips and Nick Williams to make more plays.

Ferguson made his impact behind the line of scrimmage, leading the team with 13 tackles for loss and five sacks. His total represented more that half of the team's sack total of nine. He also was tied for the team lead in quarterback pressures and fumble recoveries.

Gabbard's biggest moment of the season came when his career-long 35-yard field goal gave Wilmington its only victory of the season, a 13-12 win over Marietta. Gabbard added a field goal to end the third quarter to set up his final kick. On the season, he converted all of his extra points and was 3-of-5 on field goal attempts.

Wilmington finished the season 1-9 overall, 1-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference
