SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team begins a weekend series with Franklin College with a single game at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

The Series: Wilmington and Franklin will play a single game in Wilmington at 4 p.m. on Saturday followed by a doubleheader in Franklin beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Franklin. The Fightin' Quakers are 2-9 on the season after defeating Ivy Tech Fort Wayne 5-4 in the home-opener on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are 2-2 on the year and most recently lost 12-7 to Calvin College on Thursday.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Lance Marshall, also an assistant director of athletics at Franklin, has been the Grizzlies' head baseball coach for 21 seasons. Last year, Franklin won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and concluded the season with a 39-5 record.

The Hitters: Gage Bley and Jake Hyatt have combined for 17 RBIs for Wilmington including Bley's 3-for-4 performance with three RBIs in the home-opener. Luke Kleindl has two home runs while Nick Silvis and Antonio Miller have combined for eight stolen bases. Quenton Washington has eight RBIs for Franklin along with drawing four walks.

The Pitchers: Matt Oney and Adam Doerger have both been effective relief pitchers for Wilmington as both have ERAs under 3.50. Lance Fleischman and Jarett Trautman have tallied double digits in both innings pitched and strikeouts with Fleischman having the Quakers' win this season. Thomas Hueber didn't allow a hit in 4.1 innings of relief work on Wednesday. Franklin's pitching staff averages 11.25 strikeouts per game. Senior Jordan Clark leads the bunch with eight strikeouts in five innings pitched.
