TIFFIN – The Wilmington College baseball team dropped a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference games to No. 7 Heidelberg Saturday at Peaceful Valley.

The Fightin' Quakers (3-25 overall, 0-13 OAC) travel to Kenyon 4 p.m. Tuesday for a non-conference nine-inning game before hosting UC-Clermont 1 p.m. Thursday in a non-conference doubleheader.

GAME ONE: HEIDELBERG 5, WILMINGTON 3

Senior Roenick Whitney (Goshen, OH/Goshen) had a season-high three hits and junior Cole Voltz (Mt. Pleasant, OH/Madison Plains) stroked a two-run home run to lead Wilmington. The Fightin' Quakers had the tying run in scoring position with one-out in the ninth, but couldn't bring the run around.

It wasted a solid outing by junior Billy Foster (Xenia, OH/Xenia), who fell to 1-4 on season. The southpaw yielded five runs (three earned) on 14 hits over 7 2/3 innings of work.

Heidelberg scored a run in the first and two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead. The Student Princes added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth inning thanks to a two-out error.

Whitney scored WC first run on a throwing error in the sixth, and the Fightin' Quakers pulled closer with Voltz' seventh-inning bomb. Junior Clay Cleaver (Pleasant Plain, OH/Little Miami) had Wilmington's only other hit.

GAME TWO: HEIDELBERG 12, WILMINGTON 0

Junior Max Ramsey (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) broke up Heidelberg's Derek Hendrixson's perfect game with a leadoff single in the eighth inning for WC's lone hit of the game.

The Student Princes scored in seven of their eight plate appearances in finishing the sweep.

Voltz allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits in 2 1/3 innings of work to absorb the loss (0-2).
