@DubC_Baseball drops a pair to ONU

The Wilmington College baseball team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action with a pair of losses to Ohio Northern, losing the first game, 14-0, and the second game, 9-2.

After playing seven games in six days, the Fightin' Quakers (3-13 overall, 0-2 OAC) will have a week off before traveling to John Carroll 1 p.m. Saturday.

GAME ONE: OHIO NORTHERN 14, WILMINGTON 0

Ohio Northern scored five runs in the first inning and scored in six of nine at-bats to claim the 14-0 win.

Junior Tyler Schrock (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville), senior Roenick Whitney (Goshen, OH/Goshen) and freshman Chad Rairdon (Trafalgar, IN/Indian Creek) recorded a hit each for Wilmington.

Junior Corey Walker (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) took the loss (0-3), allowing six runs on three hits in two innings with five walks.

GAME TWO: OHIO NORTHERN 9, WILMINGTON 2

The top of the Wilmington order did all of the damage as freshman Jake Robinson (Westerville, OH/Central), junior Clay Cleaver (Pleasant Plain, OH/Little Miami) and Walker had all six of WC's hits and both RBI.

Walker brought home Wilmington's first run with a RBI double in the fifth inning, and a pair of triples in the eighth inning accounted WC's other run. Robinson opened with frame with a triple, and then scored on Cleaver's three-bagger one out later.

Cleaver finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and Robinson was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Cleaver took the loss (1-2), allowing five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings with four walks.
