Baseball drops doubleheader to Hanover

HANOVER, IN – The Wilmington College baseball team managed four runs as the Quakers were swept in a non-conference doubleheader Saturday with Hanover, 4-1 and 12-3.

Freshman Alec Hutzelman (Centerville, OH/Centerville) registered the lone RBI in the opener, while senior Jake Vinkovich (Circleville, OH/Circleville) and freshman Bryce Bean (Lees Creek, OH/East Clinton) recorded two hits each. Freshman Tyler Schrock (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) took the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on five hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Hanover scored 11 of its 12 runs in the second inning in claiming the nightcap. Freshman Corey Walker(Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) was saddled with the loss, giving up seven runs in one inning of work. FreshmanBilly Foster (Xenia, OH/Xenia) also struggled in five runs (four earned) in 2/3 innings.

Schrock, Bean and senior Hunter Justus (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) each had RBI, while five different players had single hits.

Wilmington (3-9) travels to Cincinnati to face Mount St. Joseph at Marge Schott Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati in a non-conference nine inning game.
