Terry Rupert Ed.D.

Dr. Terry Rupert began his tenure at Wilmington College as Director of Athletics/Chair of HPE-AT in May of 1996. In 2007, he was named the vice president for athletics administration with additional oversight of the College’s athletic training education major, the sport management major, the exercise science major and its recreational/wellness programs.

Rupert has been instrumental in the growth of Wilmington’s athletics and academic departments including facilities. Dr. Rupert was the lead facilitator for the planning, development and opening of Wilmington College’s Center for Sport Sciences, a unique $10.5 million dollar facility that combines the private sector, the local community and the College’s interests in the promotion of sport and health sciences. In addition, Rupert was the originator and the first chair of the college’s Sport Management major. Most recently, Dr. Rupert and the college’s athletic training staff were named as a participating institution in the NCAA-DOD Concussion Assessment Grant.

Rupert has been a leader on the national level for many years. He recently served as the chair and member of the NCAA Division III Management Council (2010-2016) and as a member of the NCAA Board of Governors. Currently, he serves as a member of the Advisory Board for Harvard Seminars for College Athletic leaders at Harvard University.

Prior to this, he served on a variety of national committees. He has chaired the NCAA Division III Financial Aid Committee and the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. Rupert also has served a facilitator for the NCAA Division III New AD orientation, the NCAA Careers In Sports Forum and the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Regional Leadership Conferences. Dr. Rupert was named the 2012 Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year for the Division III Central Region by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Rupert earned his doctorate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi as well as his Masters and Bachelors degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Clarksville with his wife, Ginger.
