NCAA Statement on Eligibility in Wake of COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The National Collegiate Athletic Assocation (NCAA) has released its ruling on spring student-athletes' eligibility in the wake of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic that caused the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and Wilmington College to cancel its spring sports season in 2020.

From the NCAA Division III Administrative Committee and its chair, Vice President of NCAA Division III Dan Dutcher - "We have approved a blanket waiver for all student-athletes participating in spring sports as follows: (a) Waive the use of a season of participation for all student-athletes in spring sports. If an institution continues or restarts its season, this relief would still exist; and (b) Waive the use of the spring semester towards their limit of 10 semesters and/or 15 quarters, regardless of whether they used a season."

This means that any spring sport student-athlete, even seniors, are eligible to return for the 2021 season and not lose a year of eligibility. This statement from the NCAA is general in nature and further details will be announced.
