WORTHINGTON – Seniors Reid Delaney and Elyse Spraul were two of 20 Ohio Athletic Conference honored at the 2017 Clyde Lamb banquet at the Holiday Inn Worthington today (Monday, May 15, 2017).
Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) is the school's all-time goals leader with 113. He led the OAC with 78 points, 11 points ahead of the closest player. His 78 points established a new WC seasonal record. For his efforts, he was named the Wilmington College Male Athlete of the Year.
A four-year letterwinner, Delaney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Economics, finishing with a 3.79 GPA. He is a three-time Academic All-OAC, the Scholar Athlete of the Month (April 2016), and was on the dean's list in every semester. He was heavily involved in the community, serving as the SAAC President for the last school year and as a camp counselor at Camp Androscoggin for the summer of 2016.
He will be attending Capital University to earn his Master's degree and will serve as a graduate assistant for the men's lacrosse program.
Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics, finishing with a 3.89 GPA.
A four-year letterwinner, Spraul holds three school swimming records, and a 12-time OAC championships finalist.
She sports a diverse profile including serving as the SGA President, Kappa Delta Leadership Chair and Treasurer of the Water Polo Club. She volunteers with the Girl Scouts, Clinton County Youth Council and coordinated Greek Donations to Sugar Tree Ministries.
Academically, she is a three-time Academic All-OAC, Green Key Honor Society Member, Omicron Delta Epsilon Award for Economics and Omicron Epsilon Kappa Award for Leadership.
The award was founded in 1985 and is named in honor of Clyde A. Lamb. Lamb organized the department of health and physical education at Ohio Northern University in 1929, and served as a coach, department chairman and athletics director at ONU from 1929-64. He continued to teach full-time until his death in 1969.
Lamb, who received his bachelor's degree from Coe College in 1923 and a master's degree from Columbia University in 1929, coached numerous sports at Ohio Northern during his tenure. In 1959, he was elected to the NAIA Helms Hall of Fame. He was honored as Ada's Distinguished Citizen in 1956 and was inducted into Ohio Northern's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1969.
