2016 Hall of Fame: Michelle (Buck) Cron

2016 Hall of Fame: Michelle (Buck) Cron

Over the next five days, the Wilmington College Athletic Communications department will be releasing articles about the 2016 Hall of Fame Class that will be inducted during Saturday's Hall of Fame brunch.

Michelle (Buck) Cron

MICHELLE (BUCK) CRON, Class of 2004, is just the second Wilmington College swimmer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and ironically it was during the induction of the first swimmer that Cron really started thinking about the possibility of her joining the ranks of the Wilmington elite.

"After Kerri (Fortman in 2013), went in, I did kind of start thinking about it," said Cron. "I knew (head coach) Trip (Breen) was pushing for me."

It still didn't temper the elation from getting the official call.

"I was so excited," said Cron. "It was such an honor to be chosen. There are some amazing athletes to choose from."

Cron won the OAC title three times in the 100 breaststroke, two more times in the 200 breaststroke and another seven times in relays. Ultimately, she earned All-OAC honors 17 times in multiple events. She is the WC record holder in the 200 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.

However, it's not the honors or times that Cron remembers most about her Wilmington experience.

"I don't remember the specific times, I remember the friends and the relationships built," said Cron. "Almost 12 years later, the thing I gained the most is that I am still friends with the people I met at Wilmington, especially those on the swim team."

Following graduation, Cron spent 10 years working in marketing before decision to be a stay-at-home mom to four year old twins, Alex and Addision. The trio lives in Farmington Hills, Mich.
